Born in Montreal in 1878. Lawrence married Janet May Weaver in the early 1900s. They had two children together, Aileen and Howard. After trying several careers, he moved the family to a farm in East Farnham, Quebec, hoping to make money selling eggs, milk and crops. In 1915 he enlisted in the Canadian Mounted Calvary and entered World War I, where he was a medic. Lawrence died at the battle of Passchendaele on October 30, 1917.
